Restorative procedures

What is the difference between filling materials?

Amalgams require more removal of healthy tooth structures and therefore are not used in Dr. Pats office.  Composites allow for less preparation of the tooth and are therefore more conservative. Composites are also more aesthetic than amalgams, because they are tooth-colored.

What is bonding?

A common term used for composite or tooth-colored restorations. Composite materials can be used to fill cleared areas of decay, cover discolorations/defects, and to repair chipped or broken teeth.
