Dr. Pat (Pediatric Dentist) -Patricia Ann Carta was raised in Ridgewood, NJ. She received her BA in Biology and Psychology with honors from Lafayette College in 1976. Her DMD was earned in 1979 from the University of Medicine and Dentistry of New Jersey. In 1981, following two years of post doctoral study in children's dentistry, Dr. Carta received her certificate of specialization in pediatric dentistry. Dr. Carta became a board certified pediatric dentist and a fellow of The American Academy of Pediatric Dentistry in 1990. For her orthodontic training, Dr. Carta completed three years of post doctoral studies in orthodontics in 1987. Each year Dr. Pat continues to complete advanced studies in both orthodontics and pediatric dentistry. Dr. Carta has been in private practice in Middletown since 1981.
She and her husband, Carl, reside in Middletown with their five children: Kelly, Meghan, Laura, Jennifer and Michael.
Carl (Office Administrator) -Carl is a 1970 graduate of Xavier High School and lifelong resident of Middletown. He attended the University of Connecticut where he received both a Bachelor of Science Degree in biology and chemistry, and a Master's Degree in Clinical Laboratory Science. Carl was a medical researcher for 17 years in Hematology/Oncology at the Uconn Health Center. He is a co-author of a number of medical research papers concerning hemophilia, von Willebrand's disease and coagulation disorders in cancer. In 1989, Carl left Uconn to teach science at Xavier High School for 2 years, before assuming full-time administrative responsibilities at Dr.Pat's. Carl volunteers his time with several organizations including Middletown Little League, St. Francis of Assisi Church and as chairman of the building committee for the Mercy High School Board of Trustees. Carl enjoys spending time outdoors with his family.
Christine (Senior Scheduling & Website Coordinator) -Christine is a 1996 honors graduate from Dean College with an Associates Degree in Law Enforcement and a 1999 graduate of Central Connecticut State University with a BA in Criminal Justice. Christine has been a part of Dr. Carta’s team since December 2000. In her spare time she enjoys volunteering for the American Red Cross. Christine and her husband, Joe, were blessed with their first son Nico, Sept. 2008 and again in May 2010, with their second son Santo!
Patty (Treatment Coordinator) -Patty has been a part of Dr. Pat's team since April 2003. In 1997, Patty graduated from the dental assisting program at Tunxis Community College. She has 16 years experience in the dental field both as a clinical assistant and appointment coordinator. Patty loves working with children everyday. In December of 2009 Patty and her husband Chris were blessed with the arrival of their daughter Kaitlyn, who is now an active toddler!
Kate (Scheduling Coordinator) -Kate attended Central Connecticut State University majoring in Elementary Education and ran a home-based daycare for many years. Prior to that, she worked in a real estate office with various administrative and accounting responsibilities. In addition to working at Dr. Pat's, Kate is a certified personal trainer. She loves to exercise and enjoys working with people. Kate resides in Portland with her husband Jerry and three children, Taylor, Andrew and Nicolette.
Susan (Dental Hygienist/Management Consultant) -Susan is a registered dental hygienist and graduated from Southern Illinois University. She has worked in pediatric dental practice since 1970 and with Dr. Carta since 1989. She enjoys working with children, talking with parents, and being part of a caring and sensitive team. She enjoys being a grandmother to Sidney and Garrett, children of her daughter Deborah.
Beth (Dental Hygienist/Clinical Staff Manager) -Beth is a registered dental hygienist who has been working with Dr. Pat and her team since 1995. She was raised in Durham where she graduated from Coginchaug Regional High School. Beth went on to earn her degree in Dental Hygiene from Forsyth School for Dental Hygiene in Boston, MA. She enjoys putting together local school lectures and working with children both in and out of the office. Beth and her husband Michael reside in Middletown with their two daughters, Jennie and Faith.
Amie (Dental Hygienist) -Amie is a registered dental hygienist who has been working with Dr. Pat since March 2002. She was raised in Wolcott and graduated from Tunxis Community College with a degree in Dental Hygiene. She has many years experience working with children in the dental office setting. Amie enjoys her family life with her husband Marcel, daughter Amanda, and son Andrew.
Robin (Dental Hygienist) -Robin is a registered dental hygienist who graduated from Tunxis Community College with a degree in Dental Hygiene. She joined Dr. Pat's office in July 2009 and is dedicated to helping her patients feel welcome, informed, and comfortable during their visit to her office. She lives in Southington with her two children, Eric and Melissa.
Lori (Certified Dental Assistant) -Lori grew up in Durham and graduated from Coginchaug Regional High School. In 1999, she graduated from the dental assisting program at Briarwood College and became certified in radiology. She loves working with children and has been working with Dr. Pat since August 2003. Lori lives in Rockfall with her son Kyle.
Samantha (Dental Assistant) -Sam is a dental assistant certified in radiology. She is a graduate of UMASS Amherst with a BA degree in Sports Management and a minor in Education. Sam had the opportunity to play college softball, which gave her the chance to turn her passion for softball into a rewarding experience as a coach for The Competitive Edge Travel Softball Team. A native of Tom's River New Jersey, Sam currently resides in Milford, CT with her dog Riley.
Kelly (Certified Dental Assistant) -Kelly is a certified dental assistant and is a graduate of the University of New Haven with a BS degree in Liberal Studies. She enjoys working at Dr. Pat's office staff both at the front desk and in the clinical area. She loves playing softball and enjoys children a great deal! Kelly has been working with us since August 2003.
