Giving It Back
Dr. Pat and her staff feel very strongly that we should help those who are less fortunate. To that end, Dr. Pat’s office participates in a few charitable fundraisers.
THE SOUTH FIRE DISTRICT OPEN HOUSE
The South Fire District in Middletown hosted its annual Open House on Saturday, October 14, 2011. We were thrilled to have been asked to participate again this year; Dr. Pat knows how important it is for families to learn about fire prevention and personal safety education. This year's event included antique fire trucks, fire equipment, Amber Alert Child ID Program, games, food and lots of fun! We enjoyed meeting new friends while we talked about mouth guard safety, healthy habits for a healthy smile, and children received a new toothbrush and floss. We also had fun playing our Tooth Trivia Game "TO TELL THE TRUTH". Thanks to everyone that stopped by our booth to say "Hello". We even got to meet Sparky the Fire Dog!

GIVE KIDS A SMILE (GKAS)
A monetary donation of support was given to Give Kids A Smile for the 2011 program. The donation will go to aid disadvantaged children in CT receive free oral healthcare.
MAKE A WISH FOUNDATION
The Connecticut Society of Pediatric Dentists has asked its member dentists to support the Make-A-Wish fundraiser. This fundraiser is being held during the month of February which is designated as Children’s Dental Health Month.
For the month of March 2011 we asked our patients to buy a “star” for $1.00, and at the end of the fundraiser, Dr. Pat would match the amount that was donated by her patients. There was over $200.00 collected and donated to Make-A-Wish! Thank you to all who contributed!
MERCY/XAVIER "SAFEGRAD" NIGHT
Annually, Dr. Pat contributes dental hygiene supplies to all graduating seniors of Mercy and Xavier high schools for their "safegrad" night. We also contribute to Middletown High School and Coginchaug High School.
FIRE SAFETY FESTIVAL 2010
We were invited to participate in the South Fire District Open House on October 2nd, 2010. These firefighters know that educating the public about fire prevention and fire safety is key to saving lives and protecting property. A few of this year's events included live fire demonstrations, antique fire trucks, the Amber Alert Child ID program and an appearance of Sparky the Fire Dog. Families also learned the importance of good dental health including caring for your child's teeth, preventative care, making smart choices for a super smile, and mouth guard safety. We look forward to participating in next year's open house.
CONNECTICUT MISSION OF MERCY 2010
The third Connecticut Mission of Mercy took place on March 12-13 in Middletown. The two day clinic provided free dental care to the underserved and uninsured in Connecticut -- those that would otherwise go without dental care. A total of 2,052 patients were seen during the two day clinic. Dr. Carta and her dental assistants, Lori and Sam, were among the more then 1,600 volunteers who participated to make the event possible. The Connecticut Mission of Mercy is an opportunity to have a positive effect on an individual's life and we are grateful to have been a part of this wonderful experience.
